Eevee Point Salad review: Point Salad in a Pokémon skin

Brief summary: Eevee Point Salad is the Pokémon variant of the popular card game Point Salad, starring the Eeveelutions. Players choose between one point card or two Pokémon cards each turn, building their own unique scoring system. Fast, accessible, and surprisingly tactical — a must-have for Pokémon fans and lovers of quick card games.

What is Eevee Point Salad and how does it work?

Eevee Point Salad is a fast and enjoyable card game where the tension remains until the very end: only during scoring do you truly know who wins. The game completely parallels the classic Point Salad: there are always two rows of cards on the table, from which you either take one point card (which indicates how you score points) or two Pokémon cards.

Each turn is therefore a balance between strategy and opportunism, and each player gradually builds their own unique scoring system. In this Pokémon variant, it revolves around the different Eeveelutions, but the game mechanics remain the same: short, accessible, and surprisingly tactical.

What is the difference from the original Point Salad?

The game mechanics are identical — if you know the original, you'll be up and running immediately. The difference lies entirely in the theme: instead of vegetables, you collect Eeveelutions, and the point cards have been adapted to this Pokémon universe.

For Pokémon fans, this is a big advantage: the game feels warmer and more playful than the original, without changing the proven mechanics. Those who have never played Point Salad will find an excellent first introduction in an appealing package.

From what age can you play it?

The box states 8 years and up, which is accurate for those who want to play the game strategically. But our kids played along without any problems — even if they mostly enjoyed choosing Pokémon rather than focusing on points. So for younger children, it works great as an introduction, while parents can play a truly tactical game in the meantime.

Is the game completely in Dutch?

Not completely: there are a small number of cards in Korean, but this is not a problem in practice. You can easily remove them from the game, or you'll quickly learn a bit of Korean. Fortunately, our numbers are not different from the Korean numbers, which makes up for a lot. And if a card unexpectedly appears, you can always look it up.

Otherwise, all iconography is universally understandable — the symbols on the point cards speak for themselves.

Who is Eevee Point Salad suitable for?

Eevee Point Salad is ideal for:

  • Pokémon fans looking for a tactical card game in a familiar package
  • Point Salad enthusiasts who want to try a new variant
  • Families who want to play short and colorful games — a game takes 15 to 30 minutes
  • Children aged 8 and up (younger with supervision) who enjoy collecting and planning

Final verdict: is Eevee Point Salad worth it?

✓ Delivers on its promise

Eevee Point Salad is a smooth, colorful variant of a game that has already proven how fun and addictive it is — and in a Pokémon skin that will surely appeal to fans. Recommended for those who love short, clever card games.

How Eevee Point Salad ended up in our cabinet

I once coincidentally bought it when I ordered another game via eBay — Pokémon Splendor to be precise. Since shipping costs had to be paid anyway, this little game also ended up in my cart. From South Korea, the game then traveled via Belgium to Spain, where we finally got to try it out under the Spanish sun.

Meanwhile, this gem is also available in Belgium — from us. No more long lead times of 10 weeks needed.
