Review: Sock Monsters

These adorable monsters won't just steal your socks, they'll steal your heart too! 💛
What a discovery! Sock Monsters is one of those games where you immediately know: we'll be playing this often. The rules are simple enough that our 4- and 6-year-olds figured it out after just one game—in fact, they even beat me halfway through the game 😅.
The gameplay is delightfully lighthearted yet cleverly constructed. You try to collect three pairs of identical socks by moving your pawn around the room, flipping tiles, or picking up socks. Before you can do this, you first play as a Sock Monster —a fun twist that allows you to secretly search for socks or even steal them from your fellow players. The dice that rolls beneath the monsters is a brilliant touch, keeping the interaction playful without becoming chaotic. (Unless, like me, you have a monster who especially loves to nap… 😴)
There's enough suspense to keep the game enjoyable for parents, while the kids unconsciously learn to make their first strategic choices: "Do I steal socks from someone who already has them, or do I keep turning over tiles?" And honestly, it's extra rewarding that kids can actually win, without you as a parent having to hold back. The luck factor creates a nice balance.

What makes Sock Monsters extra special is that you can unlock new elements after a few sessions. It's a kind of mini-legacy system, but without having to tear or break anything—super original! 🎉 We haven't gotten to the new rules or playing pieces yet, but when we do, I'll definitely update this review.
The design is also spot on: colorful, playful, and full of charming monsters that instantly bring a smile to your face. When the game arrived, the kids were literally jumping for joy.
In short: Sock Monsters is a fantastic family game for 2 to 4 players, perfect for exploring the world of board games with young children. Short, fun, interactive, and with plenty of excitement for all ages.
👉 Recommended for families who really want to play together — not just play along.
