What is the game about?

The ancient world is a battleground between two giants. Opposing you is an equally ambitious rival, determined to make his civilization the greatest of all time. As you both gather resources, construct buildings, and build Wonders of the World, the tension grows with every card that leaves the table. One wrong choice—leaving one too many scientific symbols to your opponent, or underestimating their military might—and victory can change in a single turn. 7 Wonders Duel takes the rich world of its bigger brother and distills it into an intense duel full of tactical choices, where every card you take is simultaneously one your rival doesn't get.

How do you play the game?

The game unfolds over three ages. Each age begins with cards laid out on the table in a fixed pattern, some face-up and some face-down; you may only take cards that are no longer covered by others. A card you take can be built (if you have the resources), used for a wonder, or sold for coins. Military cards push a pawn towards your opponent's capital; scientific symbols yield progress tokens. You win immediately through military or scientific supremacy, or otherwise by points after the third age.

This is the ideal game for...

You can play this game with 2 to 2 players, from 10 years old. The duration is approximately 30 minutes. The language of the game is Dutch, but you can play the game completely language independent.

How is the game experienced?

Where the original game revolves around simultaneous choices in a large group, everything here is reduced to a single direct duel. Every card you take is one your opponent misses out on, making almost every turn a double consideration. The three ways to win ensure that no one can sit back and relax: one unnoticed series of science symbols and the game is over. The pyramid-shaped card layout gives you just enough information to plan ahead without being able to foresee everything. For those who primarily play with two, this is one of the strongest titles you can get your hands on.
