What is the game about?

Ten bosses, each with their own tricks, stand between you and the end of the campaign. You play a hero with your own deck and unique abilities, and you join the rest of the group in battle. What you defeat yields loot: new cards from one of three chests, which gradually change your deck. If you find it too easy, simply level up the boss, all the way to Insane. It's fantasy in its most direct form: a monster, a group, and a plan that falls apart halfway through.

How do you play the game?

Each hero has their own deck and plays cards to attack, block, or support the rest. You hold the cards you play in front of the app, which recognises them via a QR code in a second and reacts immediately. The boss adjusts their move based on what you just did, so the same tactic won't work a second time. After a won fight, you choose from three loot chests to improve your deck. Each boss can be played on four difficulty levels, from beginners to Insane.

How is the game experienced?

Palm and Zach previously created Dorfromantik, and here too, the innovation lies in something small: the app reads your cards instead of you having to enter numbers. Reviews primarily mention how smoothly the scanning works and how distinct the ten bosses feel. The game relies entirely on the app, so without a phone or tablet, the box remains closed. The four difficulty levels ensure it grows with your group, making the box last longer than you'd expect from a campaign. Those who prefer to keep everything on the table will find the app usage intrusive here.
