What is the game about?
In Dorfromantik – Sakura, you travel to idyllic Japan, where rice paddies, villages, and rivers are surrounded by cherry blossoms. The seasons transform the landscape, and new elements like sakura, temples, and hot springs add atmosphere and meaning. Each game you play feels like a collaborative painting slowly coming to life, with the promise that with every victory, there's something new to discover.
How do you play the game?
Players work together to place hexagonal landscape tiles and assignment tiles into one large, contiguous map. Assignment tiles require areas, roads, or rivers of a specific length, while landscape tiles can be placed more freely as long as roads and rivers flow correctly. By cleverly completing assignments and closing off areas, you score points. After each game, you record the results in a campaign, which unlocks new game components, special tiles, and rules, gradually increasing the complexity of the game.

How is the game experienced?
Dorfromantik – Sakura builds on the strong foundation of the original Dorfromantik, but feels noticeably richer and deeper thanks to the campaign, additional challenges, and thematic Japanese elements. Players particularly appreciate the relaxed, cooperative nature combined with the sense of progression over multiple sessions. The game is often praised as accessible yet satisfyingly strategic, and is particularly well-suited for players who enjoy calm, puzzle-solving, and improving together rather than winning or losing.
