What is the game about?
The kingdom of Atlea was once free and safe, protected by the mighty dragon Azura. But an evil witch has imprisoned Azura in stone using the Opal, and without her protection, the shadows of darkness are washing over the land. Guardians and messengers of Atlea can barely resist the rebels. As the dragon's apprentice, you face a choice: will you play the right cards at the right time to free Azura — or will you let the witch tighten her grip on the kingdom?
How do you play the game?
In your turn, you play one or more cards of the same motif onto the corresponding section of the board, then replenish your hand to five cards. By playing cards, you collect the point cards already present on that section — each card type has its own rules about which cards it captures. The player who has collected the most points at the end wins and determines the fate of the kingdom. The game also includes two extra designer variants for more variety.

How is the game experienced?
Drakenstad is a new edition of Rüdiger Dorn’s beloved two-player card game Dragonheart, now with a new fantasy world and updated artwork. The core — cleverly managing your hand and timing each card placement — remains as satisfying as in the original: easy to learn, but deeper than it appears at first glance. Reviewers describe it as a classic visceral two-player duel in the tradition of old card games, with just enough tactical depth for multiple replays. The designer’s two extra variants noticeably extend the replay value.
