What is the game about?

In the enchanting valley of Everdell live animals that live like people: they bake bread, build houses, organize festivals, and dream of adventure. In Everdell Junior, the young inhabitants play in their own way — Chip the mouse, Sweep the fox, and their friends set up camp by the river, build a fort, explore the dragon's cave, and climb across the rope bridge. Each builds their own fantasy town, populated with colorful animal friends and unique buildings.

How do you play the game?

The game takes place over four rounds (seasons), and each round every player gets three turns. Per turn you do three things: you place a worker on an action space to collect resources (twigs, berries, or resin), you optionally buy a card from the common meadow and play it in your own city, and you take a parade tile if you have the correct set of cards. The basic space always yields one resource; the dice spaces yield more, but are occupied as soon as one player is there. After four rounds, players count their points from cards, parade tiles, and end-game bonuses — the most points wins.

How is the game experienced?

Everdell Junior achieves a BGG score of ~7.6, remarkably high for a children's game, and is almost universally praised by reviewers as one of the best junior versions of an adult Eurogame ever made. The core of Everdell — worker placement, tableau building, card synergies — remains intact but cleverly simplified: shorter playtime, less text on cards, and a clear meadow of only eight cards. Both children and non-gaming adults quickly pick it up, and Everdell fans also appreciate it as a quick filler. One caveat: the recommended age of 6+ is on the optimistic side for beginners, and the strategic depth is naturally more limited than the original. But as an entry-level game, party game, or gift for young explorers, it is unequivocally a sure bet.
