What is the game about?
Somewhere in a baseball stadium, halfway through the seventh inning, the most absurd event in the world takes place: the mascot race. Four figures in monstrous costumes—Hurley the Hotdog, Gobbler the Bear, Dangle the Anglerfish, and the enigmatic Mum—dash onto the track, attempting to be the first to cross the finish line. Or at least, that's the plan. Because people in bulky costumes who can barely see where they're going don't always stick to the script. They run into the wrong lane, collide with each other, dramatically fall flat on their faces, turn completely around, and then enthusiastically run in the wrong direction. The racetrack unfurls from the side of the box like a giant newspaper banner, the mascot figures are thick and toy-like, and the atmosphere is that of a stadium full of people who have money riding on something and are very much bothered by it.
How do you play the game?
For each race, the cards that form the race deck are laid face up on the table, allowing you to gauge what is about to happen. In reverse order, everyone chooses two betting chips: a bet on a mascot for first, second, or third place, and/or a side bet on an unusual occurrence during the race. Each bet can be flipped to its risky side for a higher payout but also a greater loss. Then, each player secretly adds one card from their hand to the race deck, which is then shuffled, and three cards are removed blindly. Then the race begins: card by card, the mascots move forward, backward, sideways, or outright in the wrong direction, and after three races, the person with the most money wins.

How is the game experienced?
Hot Streak is described as one of the most enjoyable and funniest party games of 2025. Its charm lies in the combination of apparent control—you see the cards before the race—and total chaos, as three cards disappear and everyone secretly adds one. The mascot figures, the expandable racetrack, and the side bets all contribute to the festive atmosphere. There is hardly any criticism, apart from the valid observation that those seeking true strategic depth are in the wrong place. As a noisy, accessible spectacle game, it delivers exactly what it promises on the box.
