What is the game about?
Sirens wail through the streets of Manhattan. Times Square trembles with the force of an entangled battle: Doctor Strange weaves mystical incantations while the Hulk smashes concrete, and across the board, Loki’s illusions slink through the alleyways as Ultron deploys his drones. Every city block is a battleground, every artifact a weapon, and every civilian caught in the crossfire an opportunity for the hero or an asset for the villain. Who will win the streets — and with them, the city?
How do you play the game?
Both players have an asymmetrical deck of heroes or villains and take turns playing cards to the five locations on the board. Powerful cards cost multiple other cards from hand as payment — hand management is at the core of the game. The heroes win by rescuing all but two citizens, the villains by pushing the score tracker to nine. Unoccupied locations activate special bonuses for the attacker; artifact tiles grant one-time benefits. The game sets up in two minutes and averages thirty minutes to play.

How is the game experienced?
Marvel: Skirmish! In New York is a reimplementation of Matthias Cramer's Fight for Olympus (2016) and adds a Marvel theme to a proven asymmetric duelling game. The asymmetry between heroes and villains works well: both sides require a completely different approach and play like two separate experiences. Reviewers praise the fast pace, low setup time, and the way character abilities thematically fit the mechanics.
