What is the game about?
There's not a single pair of socks to be found anywhere in the house. Sock monsters have probably been at work here. As a diligent elf, it's your job to get the house back in order—but that's easier said than done. Brave elves and sneaky monsters live side by side, and while you search the cupboards and chests for socks, the monsters lurk around the corner to snatch your precious finds. Along the way, you'll discover new rooms in the house, full of new games and new challenges. It's a cheerful, colorful world full of humor—but don't underestimate the monsters.
How do you play the game?
Each turn, you begin by moving a monster around the board. Under each monster figure is a hidden die that determines whether the monster is asleep or awake. If the monster is asleep, nothing happens. If it is awake, it can look at a neighboring tile or steal an opponent's sock and hide it in their lair. Then you move your elf pawn, which can pick up a sock from a monster's lair or turn over a tile for all players. If you find a tile of your color, you can draw two socks from the bag—and if you're lucky and draw a matching pair, you can wear those socks. The first player to collect three pairs of socks wins the game.

How is the game experienced?
Sock Monsters is a family gem from Happy Meeple Games, designed by Liesbeth Bos and Anja Dreier-Brückner and beautifully illustrated by Irina Pechenkina. The game combines memory, humor, and cute illustrations into an immersive gaming experience. The rules are learned in minutes, yet it offers enough tactics to captivate adults as well: when do you send a monster after an opponent, and when do you explore yourself? The hidden dice beneath the monster figures provide a fun surprise with every move. Reviewers particularly praise its accessibility for children aged 6 and up and the 15-25 minute playtime, making it an ideal family game for a weeknight. BoardGameGeek rates it as a solid, charming children's title. Sock Monsters isn't a heavy strategy game, but that's precisely its strength: it's pure fun, without frustration, for the whole family.
