What is the game about?
Mos Shuuta. A dusty city on Tatooine, ruled by Teemo the Hutt, where smugglers, bounty hunters, and mercenaries try to survive on the fringes of the Empire. You don't play a hero of the Rebellion—you are someone trying to pay off their debts, maintain their freedom, or simply make it to the next day. The Outer Rim isn't a black-and-white world. Morality is gray, dangers are real, and every dice roll can turn the tide. This starter set introduces you to that universe for the first time—structured, accessible, and immediately exciting.
How do you play the game?
Edge of the Empire uses a unique narrative dice system where multiple custom dice are rolled at once and symbols for success, advantage, threat, and failure are combined into a story moment. The beginner game teaches these mechanisms step by step through the adventure Escape from Mos Shuuta, introducing the rules gradually. Four ready-to-play characters—a Twi'lek bounty hunter, a human smuggler, a droid colonist, and a Wookiee mercenary—are provided with all necessary information on colorful character folios. One player leads the adventure as gamemaster; the other players control the characters.

How is the game experienced?
The Edge of the Empire Beginner Game is one of the best-designed RPG starter packs for the Star Wars universe: Fantasy Flight Games' narrative dice system turns every roll into a story instead of a simple pass/fail check, which perfectly matches the cinematic feel of Star Wars. Reviewers are unanimously positive about its accessibility for new role-players and the quality of the included adventure. The custom dice—which cost €15 separately—are already included, making the pack particularly attractive as an entry point. Experienced role-players are better off going straight for the full Core Rulebook.
