What is the game about?
In the land of Terra Mystica, fourteen peoples live scattered across seven landscape types. Each group is tied to its own terrain: Dwarves feel at home in the mountains, Witches in the forests, Mermaids by the lakes. To grow, they must terraform the surrounding land to their own environment — and that takes effort, resources, and planning. At the same time, a silent struggle for influence rages in four religious cults, and whoever keeps their neighbors close gains power but loses room to maneuver. Each game is a unique puzzle where every decision has consequences several turns later.
How do you play the game?
The game lasts six rounds; each turn, a player chooses as many actions as they want and can, depending on available workers, gold, magic, and terraforming costs. Settlements can be upgraded into trading posts, temple buildings, strongholds, or sanctuaries, each with its own income and benefits. Building next to opponents costs you action space but grants you power tokens — a central trade-off in every game. Through cult temples, you advance on four religious tracks. Round scorings reward different actions each turn, and at the end, cities, connected areas, and cult levels also count towards the final score.

How is the game experienced?
Terra Mystica is one of the most acclaimed euro-strategy games of the past decade: it won the Deutscher Spiele Preis 2013, the Golden Geek, and was a perennial fixture at the top of the BGG rankings for years. The fourteen asymmetric factions provide almost inexhaustible replayability — each faction plays fundamentally differently, and the combination of terraforming, engine-building, area control, and cult tracks offers a rare depth of strategy without luck. Reviewers are unanimous about the game's satisfying approach: those who love long-term planning will find a perfect system here. The learning curve is steep, but the reward is commensurate.
