Unmatched Marvel: Brains & Brawn

Unmatched is an asymmetrical card-driven combat game where each hero has their own unique deck that reflects their fighting style and powers. On your turn, you move your hero around the board and play cards from your hand to attack or defend — combat is resolved without dice, purely through card values. Each hero has a passive ability: Spider-Man's spider-sense reveals attack values, Doctor Strange maintains his hand size but has low health, and She-Hulk is a heavy melee powerhouse with tactical depth. This is a standalone game that is also fully combinable with all other Unmatched sets.

Brains and Brawn concludes the Marvel Unmatched series with three heroes, each feeling distinctly recognizable: She-Hulk and Doctor Strange are widely praised for their thematic depth and tactical satisfaction, with She-Hulk notably standing out for her combination of brute strength and strategic nuance. The Sanctum Sanctorum game board, with its battlefield tokens, offers clear objectives that make it accessible for newcomers to the system. The illustrations by three different artists give each character a unique visual identity. For existing Unmatched fans, this is a worthy conclusion to the Marvel line; for those new to the system, it's an excellent entry point thanks to three of Marvel's most iconic faces.
