What is the game about?

In Wyrmspan, you're not a hero or a dragon slayer, but a curious dracologist who discovers a hidden cave system beneath your land. These tunnels prove perfect for attracting dragons: from small, shy species to imposing fire-breathers. By expanding and making your caves attractive, you gradually build a sanctuary where dragons can nest and strengthen each other. The game exudes fantasy, yet remains surprisingly understated and coherent within its world.

How do you play the game?

Each player starts with three open caves and expands them throughout the game by excavating corridors. Dragons are placed in these caves and trigger actions when you use certain cave types, triggering resources, cards, and bonuses. Clever order and timing are crucial: the better your engine, the more powerful your turns. After a fixed number of rounds, you score points via dragons, guild trails, and constructed structures.
