What is the game about?
High above the city, Himeji's White Castle watches, while the daimyo watches from his chambers as clans strive to outdo each other in loyalty, influence, and prestige. In the gardens, gardeners tend the koi ponds, warriors guard the walls, and courtiers crowd the gates, hoping to gain closer access to the center of power. When evening falls and the lanterns are lit, the servants return to their clans—and the silent struggle for status and future begins anew. Position is everything: who stands where, who is seen, and who remains unnoticed.
How do you play the game?
On your turn, you choose a die from one of the three bridges and place it on the central board or on your own tableau. The die's value determines whether you pay or receive resources, after which you perform the corresponding actions. Over three rounds, you send courtiers, warriors, and gardeners to different areas of the castle complex. Most points are scored at the end, depending on where and how you deployed your clan members.

How is the game experienced?
The White Castle of Himeji is compact yet surprisingly focused: every turn requires difficult choices and leaves little room for waste. The combination of dice placement and worker placement feels tight and purposeful, without unnecessary rules. What makes the game so strong is how well the theme aligns with the mechanics—position and timing feel truly meaningful here. It's a Eurogame that plays quickly, but lingers long afterward because you see exactly where your decisions made the difference. With an 8/10 rating on BoardgameGeek, this is a must-have for your collection.
