What is the game about?

The tea ceremony forms the quiet heart of Japanese court culture: a place of respect, concentration, and balance, far removed from the din of politics and conflict. In Matcha, the chashitsu, the castle tea room, opens, where new clan members exert influence on the court through etiquette and presence. What once served as a moment of peace for monks and samurai now becomes a subtle instrument of power. Those who succeed in securing the right seats in the tea room increase their prestige without ever raising their voice.

How do you play the game?

Matcha adds a new location to the board, along with new clan members who can be deployed there. Players also gain one additional action per round, which significantly increases the pace and choice. Three existing dice tiles are replaced by new tiles with Chasen symbols, which introduce different effects and considerations. The expansion is always played alongside the base game and modifies existing systems without replacing them.
